اطلبوا العلم ولو في الصين
“Seek knowledge even to China.”

Explanation of Hadith Degrees

Adh Dzahabiy collect a history of this hadith from many paths. He said that some versions of this hadith are weak (wahiyah) and some are rated as good (sholih).
Thus the more clearly for the prosecution of science on the status of this hadith. The majority of scholars to assess this as a hadith hadith dho’if (weak). Ibn Hibban rate this hadith is a false hadith. While Ibn Jauziy assess that this hadith is a hadith maudhu ‘(false).
The word Al Mizziy who said that this hadith can be lifted up to the degree of hasan as seen from the many paths, this opinion is not good (less precise). The reason is, because many paths of this hadith is filled by those liars, who was accused of lying, falsifying hadith and such like. So this hadith can not be lifted until the degree of hasan.
As for Al-Hafiz Adh Dzahabiy rahimahullah said that part of the road from this hadith there is sholih (rated good). So we must first trace the path that is to say sholih clear-the status of the narrators of this hadith narrators. But in such cases, a negative assessment of this hadith (jarh) more precedence than positive ratings (ta’dil) and assessment of the hadith dho’if more precedence than shohih assessment until there is clarity shohihnya sanadnya this hadith from the side. If Hadith is Shohih
If this hadith shohih, then this does not show the glory of China and also does not show the glory of Chinese society.
