The recipient of Zakat
Knowing who qualifies as a recipient of Zakat is an important collection of zakat in Islam. Fortunately, Allah (SWT) is merciful to us because he himself has stated that people are entitled to receive Zakat. In Sura Tawbah He said:
“Alms for the poor and needy, and those employed to administer (the funds), for those whose hearts have been (recently) reconciled (to truth), for those in bondage and in debt for the cause of Allah, and for the wayfarer: (thus is) ordained by Allah, and Allah is full of knowledge and wisdom. ” (Al-Qur’an, 9: 60) In this verse Allah enumerated the people who deserve this divine being, and are as follows:
The poor and needy. These are people, and those under their care, to live. With the poor and needy is meant the people whose income and wages, or any other material goods that are less than the cost of living in a given environment and economy. The poor and needy should be given which will be enough for them and their families for an entire year. The needy who want to get married and have no means should be given sufficient for this purpose, and so is the student who needs money for tuition, rent, food and books. The working poor should be given supplementary Zakat. But the wealthy person, or with sufficient income to live should not be given Zakat, even if asked. Instead, they should be advised and cautioned to ask what does not belong to them.
In a hadith reported by Abdullah bin ‘Umar, the Messenger of Allah (saws) said: “A man keeps on asking others for something does not arrive until the day of Resurrection without any piece of meat on his face.” (Bukhari / Muslim). This hadeeth indicates a humiliating appearance before Allah (SWT) that awaits a person who asks illegally.
Some said: this hadith implies Allah punish a person with a lot of the limb, the face, which used to impress others to give their money illegally.
In another hadith reported by Abu Hurairah, the Messenger of Allah said: “Whoever asks people for their money in order to become rich, he asks for and flames of fire ‘to him asking for more or less (which should look ..) “(Muslim) This hadith indicates the severity of the punishment, the more punishment than is requested, unless you ask for less punishment.
In another hadith, reported by Hakeem bin Hizaam said: I asked the Messenger of Allah and he gave me. I prayed again, and he gave me. I prayed again and gave me. He said: “This money is green and sweet, he receives from people with a cheerful heart, Allah will bless him in it, those who receive it, with a mind does not mean he would be blessed in it will be like. The person who eats without being satisfied, and the upper hand is better than the lower hand “(Muslim)
This hadith has an analogy between money and green, ripe fruit that people love to eat. So, it means that both are very popular, but easily done. For the money that is Easy Come Easy Go, you must be careful about the punishment that awaits the illegal eater. If a person asks for Zakat and there are signs of wealth, and he knows he should not ask, or a person who is good and able, who can work, but if these people do not know that they are not allowed to ask, can be given in each case.
In a hadith reported by Ahmad, Abu Dawud, and Nasa’i, two men came to the Messenger of Allah (saws) and called Zakat. He looked at them carefully and found them strong and capable, he said, “If you want I will give you. But you should know that the rich or a person can be able to work has no share in Zakat” (Ahmad)
Those who administer the Zakat department, assigning people for collecting, accounting, creating lists of people eligible for Zakat, and a financial calendar. These people will receive Zakat as compensation for their work, even if they are rich. This does not include a person working as an agent for one or two rich people to take Zakat for himself. They should donate their time to deliver Zakat and to do so with honesty and sincerity. If they can not, must be paid or rewarded for their time. In a hadith reported by Abu Musa al-Ashi `ari (RAA), the Messenger of Allah said:” A reliable performer Muslim is one who does everything that has been entrusted to him zakat money in good faith. ” (Bukhari)
That is, he will give the money to any of Zakat Zakat eligible recipients. He should carry on the duty voluntarily, but if it fails to distribute the money without being paid, the person paying Zakat should pay him for his work. The fee for the distribution service should not go out of Zakat Zakat money.
The new converts to Islam whose hearts we want to harmonize into the fold of Islam, either because their faith is weak or we are afraid of being harmed by them, should be given Zakat to strengthen their Iman or until we fear most harm them.
The person who contracted the debt with his master to buy himself from slavery and deserve Zakat should be given enough to pay their debt to the master and to be delivered in the same way, the Muslim prisoners of war if their freedom is tied to monetary payment, deserve Zakat enough to secure their release.
On the other hand, if a person accidentally killed someone and have no means to pay the price of blood, should be helped from Zakat funds.
The people in debt are of two types:
(A) The guarantor, who takes the responsibility to someone else’s debt in order to reconcile the two warring parties, to extinguish the fire of fitnah between them. If the person requests Zakat money to pay this debt should be given, which will encourage him to continue in this noble cause.
In a hadith reported by Al-Qubaysah Hilaaly (CEOS), said he was under debt (hamaalah) and I came to the Messenger (saws) and asked him to help me pay. The Messenger told him: “Wait until you receive charity, so we command that will be given.” However, the Messenger said: “O Qubaysah, begging is not allowed except for one of three categories of people:
A man who claimed debt (as guarantor to reconcile the spirit of the blood) is permitted to him begging until he pays it off, after which he must stop, a man whose property was destroyed by a disaster that hit him for he is begging eligible until he gets what will support life or provide a reasonable livelihood, and a man who was hit by poverty, the authenticity of which must be confirmed by three experienced members of his people, for him begging is permissible until they get what they support, or provide sustenance. In addition to these three, Qubaysah, begging is forbidden for all other people, and one who engages in such consumes that which is forbidden. “(Muslim)
(B) who claims the debt and no money to pay back will be given from Zakat to help pay his debt, if the amount is large or small, or the creditor should be paid directly to his account, provided it paid off.
Zakat can be given in the way of Allah. This effort is intended to finance a Jihad in the path of Allah, not for Jihad for other reasons. The fighter (mujahid) will be given as a salary that will be enough for him. If you need to buy some weapons or other supplies related to the war effort, Zakat money must be used, provided that the effort is to raise the banner of Islam.
The wanderer. This is the traveler in a strange land runs out of money. He or she deserves Zakat, enough money to bring him back to his country, even if he is rich and can find someone to loan him the money. For its part, must take with him on his trip sufficient money, if you are rich, so that he will not need Zakat. Zakat money can not be used to pay other obligations, like giving money to people Zakat is obliged by law to take care of, or Zakat money can not be used to pay hotel expenses and food.
E ‘, however, allowed to give Zakat to a wife or family member, provided that is not part of their money spent on daily life, but you need to pay a debt to his wife if she can not pay. So is the case for the parents if they can not pay their debt.
Zakat money can be given to family members for their expenses if you are not obliged to take care of them financially. The wife can pay a debt of the husband with Zakat money, because they may be among the eight eligible recipients and she is not obliged to spend on him as he is about her.
The eight eligible recipients Zakat can be denied the right to a trial without Zakat Al-Quran or Sunnah one. In a hadith reported by Ibn Mas `ud, his wife Zaynab heard the Messenger of Allah women to give Zakat, so she asked the Messenger (saws):” O Messenger of Allah, who has commanded us to give Zakat, and I jewels I wanted to assess for Zakat, but my husband Abdullah bin Mas `ud said that his son deserves more than anyone else.” The Messenger replied: Your Ibn Mas `ud husband is right. . Your child deserves your charity more than anyone else “In another hadith reported by Salman bin` Aamir, he said the Messenger of Allah said: “The charity towards the poor is only charity, but charity for the rest of this kind is charity and maintenance of relationships (sillah). “(Nisaee)
No loan should be amortized as Zakat as Zakat is taken and given. Allah (SWT) said: “Of their goods take alms ….” (Al-Qur’an, 9: 103) And in a hadith of the Messenger was reported as saying. “Allah sent Zakat on you be taken from the rich and give to the poor” So, the elimination of debt is not taken . For example, if you borrow money person, you can not amortize the loan as a Zakat. However, it could be written off as charity sadaqah. In addition, loan, delinquent or not, is considered a no money, therefore, should not be treated in Zakat. Zakat is evaluated only for the cash in hand. In addition, the money debt is valued less than cash in hand, and use the money for alms is like exchanging money for evil.
The assessor of alms should try to give their Zakat to a person eligible, but if you make a mistake and gives it to an ineligible person is accepted. In a hadith reported by Abu Hurairah, the Messenger said, commented:
.. “A man has expressed his intention to give charity, so he came with his charity and put it in the hand of an adulteress in the morning the people spoke and said charity was given to an adulteress last night The donor has said: O Allah, praise to you -!. charity to an adulteress Then again expressed its intention to give charity, and he went out with it and put it in the hand of a rich person in the morning the people to speak up and say The charity was given to a rich person The donor said, O Allah to You be praise -.! charity to a rich man He expressed the intention to give charity, and he went out with his charity and put it in the hands of a thief. In the morning the people spoke and said charity to the thief. Then the man said: O Allah to You the praise (which unfortunately has been given to charity) for the adulteress, the rich and the thief! Then someone came to him and told him your charity has been accepted. As for the adulteress the charity can become the means by which she could keep from sexual immorality. The rich man might perhaps learn a lesson and spend from what Allah gave, and the thief could then stop them from committing theft. (Muslim / Bukhari)
