Prophet Solomon (Sulaiman) As
Solomon inherited David’s prophecy and domination. This was not a material inheritance, as prophets do not leave their properties. It is given away to the poor and needy, not to their relatives. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “The property prophets’ do not be inherited, and whatever we leave is to be used for charity.” (Sahih al-Bukhari).
And indeed We gave knowledge to David and Solomon, and both said: “All the praises and thanks be to Allah who has preferred us above many of His believing servants”
And Solomon inherited (the knowledge of) David. He said: “O mankind We have been taught the language of birds, and us have been given all the things That, indeed, is a grace evident (by Allah )!..”
And there were gathered before Solomon his hosts of demons and men and birds, and they were all together in order of battle (forward). (Ch 27:15-17 Quran).
After the death of his father, Solomon became king. He prayed to Allah for a kingdom, as no one would be after him, and Allah granted his wish. Besides the wisdom, God had blessed Solomon with many skills. He could command the winds and understand and talk to the birds and animals. Allah directed him to teach both men and jinn to my land and its mineral extraction for making tools and weapons. He also favored him with a copper mine, which was a rare metal in those days.
During his time horses were the common mode of transport. They were very essential to the defense, to bring the soldiers and tank provisions and weapons of war. The animals were well cared for and well trained. One day Solomon was reviewing a parade of his stable. The fitness center, beauty and posture of the horses fascinated him so much that he continued to caress and admire them. The sun was almost setting, and time for prayer half passed. When he realized this, he exclaimed: “I surely love the finer things in life than to serve my Lord’s Return to Me.”
Almighty Allah revealed: And We gave to David Solomon. How excellent a slave! In truth, it was often never returning to repentance (to us)!
When we were first exposed him, in the afternoon, well-trained horses of the highest breed (for jihad in Allah’s cause). And he said: “Alas, I did love the good (the horses) instead of remembering my Lord (in my ‘Asr prayer)!” Until the moment was over and the sun was hidden by the veil of night. Then he said: “Bring them (horses) back to me.” Then he began to pass his hand over his legs and neck (to the end of the display).
And in fact we did try Solomon and we put her on the throne Jasadan (a devil, so he lost his kingdom for a while ‘) but he did return (to his throne and kingdom by the Grace of Allah and returned) with the ‘obedience to Allah and repentance. He said: “My Lord, forgive me and grant me a kingdom, as does not belong to anyone else after me Verily, Thou art the giver! ..”
So, we are subjected to him the wind, blowing gently at his command wherever he wanted, and even the demons from the jinns including every kind of builder and diver, and also in other related strains. (Saying of Allah to Solomon): “This is our gift, to spend or withhold will not be called to account.” And in truth, has enjoyed close access to us, and a good final return Paradise. (Ch38 :30-40 Quran).
One day Solomon gathered his army, which had different battalions of men, jinns, birds and animals. They marched towards the town of Ashkelon.
As they were crossing a valley, an ant saw the approaching army and shouts to warn other ants: “Run to your homes, or unaware, Solomon and his army would crush!” Solomon, hearing the cry of the ant, smiled. He was glad that the ant knew him to be a prophet that he would not intentionally harm Allah’s creation. He thanked Allah for saving the life of the ants’.
Almighty Allah narrated: And there were gathered before Solomon his hosts of demons and men and birds, and all were set in battle order (marching forwards). Until, when he came to a valley of ants, one of the ants said: “O ants, enter your homes, because Solomon and his hosts crush, even if they do not perceive.”
So (Solomon) smiled, amused at her speech and said: “My Lord and Inspire bestow upon me the strength and ability that I maybe grateful for your kindness you have given me and my parents, and that I can do! just good deeds that please, and admit me by Your Mercy among Your righteous slaves. “(Ch 27:17-19 Quran).
In Jerusalem, on a rock huge, Solomon built a beautiful temple to draw people to worship Allah. Today this building is known as “The Dome of the Rock.” From there, a large group of followers joined Solomon on pilgrimage to the Holy Mosque of Mecca. After completing their pilgrimage, they traveled to Yemen and arrived in the city of San’a. Solomon hit their clever method of channeling water all over their cities. He was eager to build similar water systems in his country but does not have enough springs.
He tried to find the hoopoe bird, which could detect water under the earth. He has sent signals throughout the hoopoe to call on him, but he was nowhere to be found. In anger, said that unless the bird had a good reason for his absence, would be severely punished.
The hoopoe eventually came to Solomon and explained the reason for the delay. “I discovered something that I’m not aware of. I have come from Sheba (Sab’a) with important news.” Solomon became curious, and his anger subsided. The bird continued: “Sab’a is ruled by a queen named Bilkis (Bilqis), which has plenty of everything, including a splendid throne But in spite of all this wealth, Satan entered his heart and the heart of his people .. She rules their minds completely. I was shocked to learn that worship the sun instead of Allah the Almighty. ”
To check the information, the hoopoe, Solomon sent a letter to the queen with the bird. He instructed the bird to remain hidden and to look at everything.
The hoopoe dropped the letter in front of the queen and flew away to hide. He excitedly opened and read: “Verily, it is from Solomon, and indeed it says:! ‘In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful and, not exalted against me, but come to me as Muslims (true believers who submit with full submission). ‘”(Ch 27:30-31 Quran).
The queen was very disturbed and hurriedly summoned his advisers. How have they reacted to a challenge, because I felt that there was someone who challenges them, hinting at war and defeat, and asking them to submit to its conditions.
They told her she could only give advice, but it was his right to command the action. He felt he wanted to meet the threat of invasion with a battle of Solomon. However, he told them: “Peace and friendship are better and wiser, the war only brings humiliation, enslaves people and destroys the good things that I decided to send gifts to Solomon, selected from our most precious treasure Courtiers i. who will deliver. gifts will also have the opportunity to learn about Solomon and his powerful army. ”
Solomon’s reconnaissance team brought him the news of the arrival of messengers Bilkis’ with a gift. He soon realized that the queen had sent his men in a survey mission like this, he ordered the army to assemble. Envoys of Bilqis, entering among the well-equipped army, realized that their wealth was nothing compared to that of the reign of Solomon’s building plans, which were made of sandalwood and inlaid with gold.
They noted significant Solomon his army, and were surprised at the number and variety of soldiers, including lions, tigers, and birds. The messengers stood in amazement, realized that they were facing an army irresistible.
The envoys marveled at the splendor that surrounds them. They eagerly presented their gifts precious queen and the queen told Solomon that he wanted to accept them as an act of friendship. They were shocked by his reaction: he did not even ask to open the lids of containers! He told them: “Allah I hagiven abundance of wealth, a great kingdom, and prophecy are, therefore, beyond corruption My only goal is to spread the belief in Tawheed, the Oneness of Allah …”
He also ordered them to return the gifts to the Queen and tell her that if it did not stop her form of worship he would uproot her kingdom and lead his people from the country.
Queen’s emissaries returned with the gifts and delivered the message. They also told of the wonderful things they had seen. Instead of being offended, he decided to visit Solomon. Accompanied by her royal officials and servants, left Sheba, sending a messenger ahead to tell Solomon that was his way to meet him.
Solomon asked the jinns in his service if any of them could bring her throne to him there before his arrival. One of them said: “I will bring it to you before this session is over.” Solomon did not react to this offer, but seemed to be waiting for half faster. The jinns competed with each other to please him. One of them named Ifrit said: “I make for you in the blink of an eye!”
As soon as this – that he had knowledge of the Book – finished his phrase that was before the throne of Solomon. The mission had, indeed, was completed in the blink of an eye. Location of Solomon was in Palestine, and the throne of Bilqis was in Yemen, two thousand miles away. This was a great miracle performed by one of those sitting with Solomon.
When Bilqis arrived at Solomon’s palace, was welcomed with pomp and ceremony. Then, pointing to the throne altered, Solomon asked her if her throne looked like that. He looked again and again. In her mind she was convinced that his throne could not be what she was looking like his was in his palace, et, revealed a striking similarity and said: “It ‘as if it were the same, and resembles mine in every aspect. “Solomon held that he was intelligent and diplomatic.
Then the calls in the great hall, the floor of which was placed in glass and gleaming. Thinking it was water, as he stepped on the floor, lifted her skirt slightly above her heels, for fear of wetting it. Solomon noted that she was made of solid glass.
She was amazed. He had never seen anything like that before. Bilqis realized it was accompanied by a very competent person who was not only a ruler of a kingdom great, but a messenger of Allah, as well. She repented, gave up sun worship, accepted the faith of Allah, and I asked people to do the same.
Was finished, I saw Bilqis of his people fall apart before Solomon. He realized that his men adored the sun was but one of the creatures of Allah.
The sun eclipsed in her for the first time, and his heart was illuminated by a light never fade, the light of Islam. Almighty Allah told us this story in the Qur’an: He inspected the birds, and said: “What is the thing that I do not see a hoopoe Or is he among the absent I will surely punish him with a severe punishment, or slaughter him ?, unless he brings me a clear reason. ”
But the hoopoe stayed a short time, came over and said. “I have grasped (the knowledge of a thing) that you have not grabbed it and have come to you from Sheba with true news that I found a woman ruling over them, and she was given everything that could be possessed by any ruler of the earth , and she has a great throne. I found her and her people adoring the sun instead of Allah, and Satan made his actions seem fair to them, and prevented them from Way of Allah, so they have a guide. ”
Al-La (this word has two interpretations) [As Satan has excluded them from the path of Allah} so that they do not worship (prostrate before) Allah, or so they could worship (prostrate before) Allah, Who brings the light what is hidden in heaven and on earth, and knows what is hidden and what you reveal. Allah, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshiped but He), the Lord of the Throne Supreme!
(Solomon) said: “We’ll see if telling the truth or are you one of the liars Go with this my letter and hand it to them, then draw back from them and see what answer they return ..”
He said: “O leaders delivered a letter to the truth is a noble in truth and in fact has Solomon ():!.! reads’ In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful, Be not exalted against me, but come to me as Muslims (true believers who submit with full submission to Allah). ”
He said: “O chiefs advise me in this case I decide no case till you are with me ..”
They said: “We have a great strength and great ability for war, but it is for you to command, to reflect on what will be the command.”
He said: “Verily kings, when they go into a town (country), take off and make the most honorable among his people and so are low, but in truth I’m going to send him a gift and see! ..! With what answer the messengers return. ”
So, when (the messengers with the present) came to Solomon, said: “You want to help in the wealth that Allah has given me is better than what He has given you the contrary, rejoice for it is your gift?” (Then Solomon said to the chief of her messengers who brought the present): “Come back to them, we actually come to them with hosts that can not resist, and we drive them out from there is disgrace, and will be. Humiliated “.
He said: “O leaders of you can bring me her throne before they come to me surrendering themselves in obedience?”
An Ifrit (strong) from the jinn said: “I will bring it to you before you move from your seat (the Council) and in truth I’m really strong and trustworthy for such work.”.
One with whom was knowledge of Scripture, said: “I will bring it to you in the blink of an eye!” Then, when Solomon saw in front of him, he said: “This is the grace of my Lord, to see if I am grateful or ungrateful And who is grateful, truly, his gratitude is for the good of his ownself, and who is ungrateful, he is ungrateful only for the loss of his ownself. Surely my Lord is rich (Free of all wants), Bountiful! ”
He said: “Disguise her throne for her that we can see if she will be guided (to recognize her throne), or she will be one of those who do not drive.”
So when she arrived, he told her: “Your throne like this?”
He said: “It ‘as if it were the same.”
And Solomon said: “Knowledge was bestowed before her, and were submitted to Allah (in Islam as Muslims before her).”
And what he used for the worship of Allah prevented Islam, because it was a nation of unbelievers.
It was said of her: “Enter As-Sarh” (a glass surface with water underneath it) or a palace, but when he saw it, thought it was a swimming pool, and she put on her clothes, uncovering her legs.
Solomon said: “In truth, it is Sarh paved smooth with slab of glass.”
He said: “My Lord In truth, I myself have done wrong, and I submit (Islam), along with Solomon to Allah, Lord of the Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists)!”. (Ch 27:20-44 Quran)
Solomon’s public work was largely carried out by the jinn. This was a punishment for their sins of making people believe that they were omnipotent, he knows the unseen, and can predict the future. As a prophet, it was the duty of Solomon to remove such false beliefs from his followers.
Solomon lived amidst glory, and all the creatures were subject to him. Then Allah ordered for him to die. His life and death were full of wonders and miracles, so his death in harmony with his life and glory. His death, like his life, was unique. People had to learn that the future is known neither by the jinns, nor by prophets, but only by Allah. Solomon’s effort in this direction did not end with his life, because even his death became an example. He was sitting holding his staff, overseeing the jinns at work in a mine. He died sitting in this position. For a long time nobody was aware of his death, because he was seen sitting erect. The jinns continued with their sand toil, thinking that Solomon was watching over them.
Several days later, a hungry ant began nibbling Solomon’s staff. He continued to do so, to eat the lower part of the staff, until it fell from the hand of Solomon, and his great body fell to the ground. People hurried to him, realizing that he was long dead and that the jinn do not perceive the invisible, the jinn had known the unseen, they would not have continued to work, thinking that Solomon was alive.
Allah has revealed and made a source of molten brass to flow for him, and there were jinn who worked before him by permission of its Lord, and whosoever of them part of our control, we get him taste the torment of the blazing fire.
They worked for him what he desired, (making) high rooms, pictures, large tanks such as tanks, and (making) cauldrons fixed (in place). “It works, O family of David, with thanks!” But few of My slaves are grateful.
Then when we decreed death for him (Solomon), nothing informed them (jinns) of his death except a little worm of the earth, which kept slowly gnawing away at his stick, so when he fell the jinn saw clearly that if had known the unseen, they would not be left in the humiliating torment. (Ch 34:12-14 Quran).
