Greetins On Eid

idul fitriWhat law mengucapakan Happy Eid? How does the law shook hands and hugged each other after prayers ied?

Thank God, There is a history that comes from the friends radhiyallahu’anhum that they congratulated each other on the feast day with a greeting, تقبل الله منا ومنكم “Taqabbalallahu minkum minna wa” (May Allah accept (deeds) from us and from you all).

From Jubayr bin Nufair, he said, “Formerly the Companions of the Prophet SAW shalallahu’alaihi say ‘wa minna Taqabbalallahu minkum’ when seeing each other on the day of Eid.” Al-Hafidz (Ibn Hajar) saying about this history, “Sanadnya hasan.”

Rahimahullah Imam Ahmad said, “Never mind the law if someone say to his brother during Eid al-Fitr, ‘Taqobbalallahu minkum minna wa’.” So that was quoted in Ibn al-Mughni Qudama.

Rahimahullah Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah was asked,

“What the law congratulate on the holiday as many spoken by the people? Like ‘indaka mubarak (hopefully you gain baraka Eid Day) and utterance matching. Does it have a legal basis for the Shari’a or not? If you have a legal basis for the Shari’a how it should be the correct greeting? ”

Rahimahullah He replied,

“The law tahniah (congratulations) Day feast spoken to each other when it finishes the prayer ied as

تقبل الله منا ومنكم, وأحاله الله عليك

“Taqabbalallahu minna wa waminkum ahalahullahu ‘alaik” (May Allah accept (deeds) from us and from you all and may God perfected it upon you), and the semisalnya, has been narrated from some of his companions that they do and the priests gave waivers of this act as Imam Ahmad and others. But the Imam Ahmda said, “I will not start congratulating anyone. But if there are people who congratulate me I will answer. Because the answer tahiyyah (respect) is mandatory. As for other people started to congratulate the sunnah is not part of the recommended nor forbidden in the Shari’a. Whoever did it has qudwah (example) and those who left also have a very qudwah (example). And Allaah knows best. (Al-Fataawa al-Kubra, 2 / 228)

Shaykh Ibn Ustaimin asked,

“What the law tahniah (congratulations) on holiday? Is there a particular form of speech? ”

Rahimahullah He replied,

“Law tahniah (congratulations) on the holiday is allowed and no particular form of speech is devoted. Because of (legal origin-pen) every customs people are doing it is okay as long as not a sin. ”

On another occasion he rahimahullah also asked,

“What is the law of shaking hands, hugging and congratulating each other when the feast is finished ied prayer?”

Rahimahullah He replied,

“The law is not why all this works. Because people who do it do not mean to worship and draw closer to Allah ‘Azza wa Jalla. Rather than just doing a custom and tradition, honor and mutual respect. Because during the custom is not contrary to the Shari’a it is permissible. “(Majmu’Fatawa Ibni Uthaymeen, 16 / 208-210)
